I didn’t know how to properly utilize a sketchbook for a majority of my life. I was self-taught for the longest time and I learned some stuff from YouTube, but when you don’t know what you need to learn, you don’t go searching for things you actually need. The day I saw a video explaining the importance of sketchbooks as playgrounds for studies, expression, and ideas in their rawest forms prior to getting refined in bigger pieces changed my entire life. My sketchbook was no longer a book of blank pages I thought had to remain that way until the “perfect” idea came around for a complete and finished art piece every single page. Sketchbooks became my journals chronicling my life at the time I’d be looking to jot down my surroundings and learn how to draw a plethora of things that I never would have drawn if I remained under the impression that sketchbooks had to be like perfect portfolios.I’ve decided to include these in the website so people can see the chaos behind practice and planning art pieces because talent doesn’t exist, but hard work and dedication does.
